Thanksgiving Gluttony

Weight- 110.5
Exercise- going to later today
Calories-870

I went to my parents over thanksgiving. I was there for 5 days, and i ate a lot and didn't count a single calorie. To make matters worse, I didn;t exercise either. My mom even went to the gym once and asked me if I wanted to go. I told her no. I could have gone and just walked on a treadmill, but i didn;t. I stayed at the house and played my nintendo ds. Yeah, I was a lazy bum.

But, I am back in Michigan now, and it is time to get back on the horse so to speak. I am going to do my biggest loser workout in about an hour, and I am on track to make my calories today. It was just much harder to do when I wasn;t in my own home with my own kitchen stuff around me.

yesterday

Weight- 210.5
Exercise- 35-40 minutes cardio/weight training intervals
Calories-1640

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. I worked out last night with my friend Marie, and I could definitely feel the effects of the previous days of exercise. My arms felt like they were about to fall off from the beginning of the video instead of halfway through. I had to modify the exercises much more than I had the days previously. Today my shoulders ache, my butt muscles are sore, my inner thighs hurt, and my upper back muscles feel abused. It kind of sucks to hurt like this, but at the same time, it feels good to know that I was finally this active.

I think I will be taking today off from exercising though. If it hurts too much to even raise my arms all the way I don;t see how I could have an effective workout. Maybe I will jsut do a few minutes of ab work(the one muscle group that isn't yet sore) and call it a day.

Weight- 210.5
Exercise- 35 minutes cardio/weights
Calories-unknown

I have no idea how many calories i consumed today because i went to see a movie(stranger than fiction-it was good!) and ate cheese fries, corndog nuggets, and had a mt dew. I have no idea the serving size i ate so i have no idea the amount of calories in it. Knowing how many calories are in one ounce of "American Cheese Food" (94) I would have to guess that at about 300 calories. This was at a Nathans, and a regular Nathans fries have 547 calories, I had a large, so lets guess that at 700 calories. And the Nathans corndog nuggets are 351. Mt Dew is 270 calories for a regular bottle, and that is probably a little less than I had at the theater so I will guess that at 350. So in that one indulgence I had probably 1750 calories. Needless to say this was a horrible day for me foodwise.

In better news, I have now exercised 4 out of the last 5 days which is about a new personal best for me. My butt hurts when i walk a little, mt arms feel like jello, and if i do one more squat I might fall over, but it feels GOOD. It feels good to finally be active. I just hope I keep it up. Scratch that, I know I will keep it up. After all, I am a future size 8!

I did a new exercise video today(not new, but new to me). It's Susan Powters Burn Fat and Get Fit. It has a slightly intense warm-up. Once you get into the video it is 3 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of strangth training back and forth. I will say that she has the modifications in this one, but I was able to ALMOST do it without modification. There were a few parts where you were moving your arms up and down during the cardio, then went to the weights, then back to the up and down in the cardio and my arms just needed a minute to rest. So i did some of it at halftime, and some with no arms, but I tried really hard to only modify when i NEEDED to, as opposed to when i WANTED to. If I had done what I wanted I would never have gotten off the couch in the first place!

The other thing I got in the mail today is the Biggest Loser Comlete Calorie Counter. And it came just in time because it jsut HAPPENS to have nathans calories counted in it. So now I know exactly how many calories I consumed at the movies. I really wish I had this book BEFORE I went to the movie. If I had, there is no WAY I waste 1,000 calories on cheese fries. Oh well. Too late now. Next time i will consult the book before I eat instead or regretting it later.

Weight- 211.5
Exercise- 25 minute biggest loser weight training/20 minute stretching
Calories-670 so far

Today is the first day i have done the weight training part of the biggest loser exercise video. I am not sure how to explain it. Each individual move felt like it kicked my butt. I felt like each one was harder than anything I had ever done before. Then I got to the end of it and as a whole video I felt like "thats it?" It felt like there shoudl have been another 10-15 minutes. Of course each exercise has easier and harder modifications and maybe this is a sign that I should have been doing the harder modifications. I did the 20 minute aerobic workout on this same video friday and when it was over i felt like melting into a little pool of jello! That one I felt. The weight training portion I just felt like it wasn;t quite enough.

Starting Off on the Wrong Foot

Weight- 212
Exercise- 20 minute Biggest Loser cardio
Calories-270 and it's only 6 am
Total Calories for the day-1590

I love Mountain Dew. Adore it even. I "quit" drinking it 5 months ago. I put the quit in quotations because I have done anything but. Oh, I have definitely slowed down my intake. But if i have a rough morning I grab one. If I go to the movies I get one. If I get pulled over and am late to work(like I was this morning) I say that I deserve it, I've had a rough time. And my mind might deserve that little pick me up. My body doesn't. I am sitting here with an empty Dew bottle in front of me and realize that I just used 270 calories to drink sugar. It did make me feel better, that sweet nectar of the Gods running down my throat, but I am going to be mad at myself tonight when I make myself do an extra 20 minutes of cardio for drinking it.

Last night my friend Marie and I were trying to exercise and it seemed that fate was telling us we were just supposed to crash on the couches, watch tv, and pig out. I got the Biggest Loser workout in the mail yesterday so we were going to try it. It is nice to do something different sometimes. But the remote control for her DVD player stopped working. Because of the way the DVD is set up, we couldn't just hit play either because all we could watch were the interviews. She had a universal remote so we looked up the codes for her DVD player and tried to get the codes to work on it, but her remote would only accept three digits, and some of the codes had 4 digits. We never did get it to work.

So then we decided to go with a goodie but oldie. We love the Susan Powter Move it or Lose it tape so we decided to get out the steppers and go that route. The tape wouldn't play in the VCR. It just kept showing a bunch of static, and then it would show the intro like it was going to play but it was just a tease. At this point I would have given up, but I have to admire her tenacity. Her mom used to be an aerobics instructor so marie had an old audiotape made in the seventies that she knew all the exercise moves too. So we decided to go a little old school and do the cassette tape route. Her machine ate the tape! She did wind it back up and eventually we got to do the exercise, but it took up more time trying to find a way to exercise than we actually got to spend exercising!

But let me tell you, you have never truly exercised until you have done the country hop or cooled down to Olivia Newton John singing Hopelessly Devoted to You.
